Life Insurance

Life Insurance pays a multiple of an employee’s salary on death of that employee whilst employed by the company. The tax-free lump sum is paid by the insurer directly to the beneficiaries of the employee. Employees on sick leave can continue to be covered for up to 3 years after their last working day.

The quote assumes a low-risk occupation category (office-based workers). It also assumes that travel overseas is minimal and all employees to be covered are actively working and not on long term sick leave.

Critical Illness

Critical Illness Insurance pays a multiple of an employee’s salary on diagnosis of a pre-defined critical illness. The tax-free lump sum is paid by the insurer directly to the employee. There are usually around 40 critical illnesses that are covered. The main conditions being heart attack, cancer & stroke.

Please note that critical illness does not cover pre-existing diagnoses prior to joining the company or prior to the cover start date. The quote assumes a low-risk occupation category (office-based workers). It also assumes that travel overseas is minimal and all employees to be covered are actively working and not on long term sick leave. Employer National Insurance would also be payable in addition to the scheme premium.

Income Protection

Income Protection Insurance pays a proportion of an employee’s salary to the employer in order that the employer may continue to pay the employee whilst they remain on sick leave. The income is taxed on the employee as their usual monthly salary would be.

Cover period
The quote assumes a low-risk occupation category (office-based workers). All quotes assume a 13-week deferral period (so 13 weeks of sick leave required before the benefit starts). In addition, the benefit paid will not increase in payment. The quote will allow for the employer National Insurance to be covered, but no continued funding of pension contributions in favour of the employee.

Cash Plan

A cash plan provides an annual allowance for everyday healthcare expenses. Separate allowances are usually provided for dental, optical, therapies and alternative therapies. The plans can also include some hospital expenses which might be suitable if Private Medical is not being provided to employees.
Level of cover
Employer National Insurance would also be payable in addition to the scheme premium.

Plans provide for £60/£120/£180 annual contribution toward dental costs plus a further £60/£120/£180 allowance toward optical expenses plus a £100/£200/£300 allowance each year toward therapies like a physiotherapist. Typically, these plans also provide access to an online discounted shopping portal.

Financial Advice

This benefit provides employees with direct access to financial advice. Typical areas of advice that are provided include retirement planning, family protection, investments, mortgages and estate planning and wills. A confidential meeting is provided for 45 minutes between a qualified financial adviser and the employee. Meetings are provided via an online video call and employees are provided with unlimited access to the adviser’s diary to enable them to book a meeting.

Employee Assistance

An employee assistance programme provides employees with access to confidential counselling and advice on a wide range of work and personal issues. Typically, employees are provided access to counsellors, legal, health and financial professionals.

Private Medical Insurance

Private Medical Insurance provides employees with fast access to private medical care allowing employees to resolve any acute medical conditions quickly allowing them to return to work more quickly.
Underwriting method
If you require employees to be covered for pre-existing medical conditions on joining the scheme, please select “Medical History Disregarded”. “Moratorium” underwriting means employee pre-existing medical conditions in the 5 years preceding the employee joining date are excluded from cover. Over time, the medical condition can be covered. The requirement for this is usually that the employee has held the policy for 2 years and had no reoccurrence of that condition nor required any follow ups regarding the condition.

Dental

Dental Insurance ensures that employees can be reimbursed for their dental expenses to varying degrees. A standard plan will allow for 2 annual trips to the dentist and hygienist and will provide a £450 fund toward the cost of restorative dental treatments as well as providing separate allowances for fillings of £250 and extractions of £150.

Travel Insurance

Whether to cover employees working overseas or just holidaying abroad, travel insurance will provide employees with all year round cover without the need to take out their own policy. Winter sports are usually included as standard.
